« the article begs the question: So what? Who over the age of 35 has not known that the NY Times is a lying propaganda outfit ». Well I really did not know that about the NYT until I started following Alec’s work. What he does with passion is important, educational, well researched and beautifully written. And as a bonus he quotes Chomsky!!

Thanks for your thorough reporting on biased reporting. Is there any source of news we can trust at all?

The points here are undeniable, but the article begs the question: So what? Who over the age of 35 has not known that the NY Times is a lying propaganda outfit since even before the run-up to the Iraq invasion? Do you seriously believe this is a new revelation or that pointing out their "errors" will somehow change the situation? More importantly, why do you read the Times at all?

For the last week, we have experienced the limited hangout release of the "Twitter files," with at least the acknowledgment that spy agencies, the president, the CDC/NIH/FDA cabal, Homeland Security, mainstream media. etc. have had free rein to simply memory hole information that conflicts with official narratives around Ukraine, Trump, and Biden family corruption, but also climate change, trans issues, and so many others. And the deleted Twitter posts will never see the light of day on mainstream news, because of course they were deemed "disinformation." The mainstream press, including the NY Times, spew out their own disinformation daily as part of the broader psychological warfare against the American people, but we don't talk about that.

And then there is the criminal handing of so-called "Covid disinformation." No open public debate over any Covid topic has ever occurred, despite some of the most prominent doctors, scientists and researchers around the world demanding it, as well as the mass of the U.S. population (excluding Democratic Party loyalists) rejecting the insulting Covid narratives. The NY Times, along with every mainstream media outlet, has been lying that vaccines are safe, that masks work, that lock downs and "social distancing" are logical steps for preventing viral spread, that vaccine "mandates" make sense and that all opposition comes from right wing, Christian gun nuts. Please ignore the $1 billion the CDC admitted doling out to media organizations to toe the line, or the Gates Foundation's millions "donated" to the likes of CNN, MSNBC, Fox, the Times, the Post, Reuters et al. to control their Covid reporting. Nothing to see here, and no "Covid-ganda" to note in your posts.

Copgaganda takes on barely a thin slice of the controlled information environment in which we live but without acknowledging that the Times et al are a propaganda network that some people actually pay to receive. Mainstream news outlets have been caught lying dozens of times in the last few months alone (for example, debunked "reports" of Russians raping Ukranian children). Even here in Copaganda land, you have been known to sneer at "climate denialists," rejecting the credentials of droves of scientists labeled this way in favor of an official but nonsensical narrative about carbon. You seem to tacitly claim we can trust the media on almost everything else except crime and policing. You are way too smart to believe the disinformation you are absorbing, or just ignoring.

This is a silly critique. The newsletter you are commenting upon is specifically addressing the issue of “copaganda”, which it does very well. Nowhere could I see any claim, tacit or otherwise, that the Times (or other corporate media) aren’t affected by the same structural biases in their reporting on other subjects. By the way, you lose a lot of credibility lumping climate change in as a media disinformation campaign - corporate media have been very susceptible to the public relations campaigns by fossil fuel interests (similar to those used by big tobacco) to keep the public thinking the science was contested and uncertain well beyond the time the science was exceedingly clear that fossil fuel burning was a major cause of the warming climate.

It isn’t about trusting or not trusting the media. It’s about reading the sources critically, aware of their biases and omissions. There are plenty of true things reported in the corporate media, but also plenty left out, and plenty of others distorted or framed in misleading ways. This newsletter does a great job with helping readers to read about crime and punishment issues with a critical eye.
