Are there any newspapers / magazines which reliably reach the level of journalistic rigor you're describing? Is there no hope for finding that kind of standard in the industry today?
Lots of great ones across many areas! Some of my favorite magazines are Lux and Current Affairs and Jacobin. In terms of general news, lots of good ones like Democracy Now! and Truthout and the Intercept, and the Appeal is fantastic for criminal legal system news. There are some new specialty ones focusing on these issues of politics and "criminal justice" like Bolts magazine.
Ian, friend, don't be foole.d. The only outlets that meet AK's standard of rigor are the ones that obediently platform his Marxist propaganda. Alec runs a ministry of truth for the Marxist insurrection, and if the revolution succeeds, his comrades will appoint him our minister of reeducation. We will be forced to reflexively chant his bullet points or face alienation and ostracism. This was never about "journalistic rigor," but about whose propaganda will win over the proles at the polls and then in the streets. The far right works with terrible effectiveness, so the Marxists have found Alec to wage war back. Make no mistake: he is just as dangerous to BIPOC as all but the most hateful right wingers. They at least make their agenda of violence clear, while AK's form of enslavement and domination will evolve more subtly and insidiously, until it is too late.
Hi Alec, I wanted to bring to your attention a really great writer who is doing the same type of work you do about police brutality, except in Latin America. His name is Oscar Martinez. He just finished a book which hasn’t been translated into English yet about police brutality and cover ups. In the meantime, I recommend his translated work: A History of Violence: Living and Dying in Central America https://a.co/d/6tVVYV6
Saw the nail; hit it on the head. Well said; well argued. Please keep your eye out for more nails!
